Erin and I went to Auschwitz this last week. It is about 45 minutes from where we live. It is hard to describe the experience because it is so unique. Over 1 million lives were taken at this camp and yet it appears so civilized, clean and well organized. As I walked through I knew the history of the place but my senses weren't allowing that history to register.
I only took two pictures. One of the familiar fence around the camp and the other of the gate which reads in German "work brings freedom" (a cruel lie to keep the prisoners working hard). I am thankful those times are over but I know that there is still much pain and guilt that comes from them. Please pray that God would heal this country.
